Kristin Wright of Stand Today recently partnered with Jubilee Campaign, a human rights organization working on behalf of the persecuted church, for a two-week trip to Pakistan and India. Below is a brief account of her experiences in India, along with a few photos from the trip.

In India, our team spent time with an outstanding partner organization that works with children in Mumbai. Their "Night Shelter" in Mumbai's crowded Red Light district provides for the needs of the children of prostitutes. Most of these children would otherwise be found along the streets of Mumbai, begging for food and in need of care and protection. Instead, they are growing up in a warm and supportive environment, going to school, and learning that Jesus loves them.

Protecting Their Futures
Helping Kids in Mumbai

Our team visited the Red Light district, the capital of India's thriving sex trade, on our first night in Mumbai. We were prohibited from taking photos in the district, so all of the photos shown here were taken inside the Night Shelter. We were able to visit with the children living there and pass out candy (which they loved!). The children were happy and well cared for. The shelter is indeed a safe haven for them. Many of these children have parents who are either unable or unwilling to care for them, and so the Night Shelter is truly their home.

Jubilee Campaign also sponsors a home for AIDS orphans outside of Mumbai. There, too, we found children happy and active. It was amazing to see the difference that love and attention can make in the life of a child. There are millions more children like these in India, and it is my hope that we can continue to expand this work to reach even more of them.

If you would like to help support this work in Mumbai, you can donate online.
